Horsemen aim to maintain grip, Dashen to test Coffee

In week 21 of the Ethiopian Premier League (EPL), Dashen Beer will host Ethiopia Coffee aiming to end the Addis Ababa club’s three-match unbeaten run, while leaders St. George will travel south to face Woliata Dicha at Bodit Stadium on May 21, 2016. With five matches remaining in the season, Hadiya Hosanna, who is struggling to avoid relegation, will host Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE).

The Horsemen are 10 points clear at the top of the table after the thrashing Dedebit FC 3-0 on Tuesday. Though Adane Girma’s penalty was saved by Dedebit’s goalie, Ramkel Lok opened the score sheet followed by Mintesenot Adane’s strike assisted by Saladin Said. The third goal came from Adane.

Week 21 of the EPL match features the Horsemen against Woliata Dicha—a match that is vital for both clubs. The three point will enable Wolaita remain in the top four while the Horsemen will maintain their grip. So far, the Horsemen have win 13, drawn four and lost three matches, while Wolaita—with 31 points—sit fourth having won eight, drawn seven, losing five matches.

Elsewhere, the recent good form of Ethiopia Coffee will be tested by Dashen Beer in Gonder. Ethiopia Coffee has continued to impressive since their derby match against Saint George and another thrilling encounter with Dedebit, which ended 3-0. On Tuesday, Coffee broke a strong defensive line of Arba Minch City—another team battling relegation—on the 75th minutes with Amanuel Yohannes scoring from close range.

In other EPL fixtures, Dire Dawa City will face Defense FC, while Sidama Coffee plays Adama City. Other games are Arba Minch City vs. Dedebit and Hawassa City vs. Electric FC. All matches will be played on Sunday in regional stadiums.
